Information - Dreams Come True

MISSION:

To grant the wishes of children, in our local area, between the ages of three and eighteen who have a serious or life-threatening illness.

GOAL:

To provide the means whereby these children realize their dreams.

OBJECTIVE:

Should the child's dream be a trip, Dream Come True will make all of the travel arrangements for the child and immediate family.
Should the child's dream be a gift--such as a computer, television, VCR, stereo or others--the committee will purchase, deliver and install the gift, if requested.

PROCEDURES:

     1. When a child becomes known to Dream Come True, a representative will meet with the family and the child to explain the program and determine the eligibility of the child.
     2. A representative from the Dream Come True Dream Committee will then contact the family to discuss the details of the child's dream.
     3. Dream Come True will make all arrangements to fulfill the child's dream.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

     Since its inception in 1986, Dream Come True has fulfilled the dreams of nearly one hundred special children from the tri-state area. Dreams have included trips to Disney World, computers, stereo systems and other special requests.
     Dream Come True continues contact with their special children. Birthday cards, small gifts at Christmas, and cards during hospitalizations continue long after a child's dream is fulfilled.
     We do this to continue to make our special children's day a bit brighter.

REWARDS:

The volunteers of Dream Come True are rewarded with something precious...a great feeling of love and warmth. The bright smile on the face of a child is priceless.
